Early in March, the non-profit group Protect Democracy Project Inc. filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of Justice on the hopes to seek any records of communications between the two groups over Disney's pending acquisition of Fox. The lawsuit also sought "any related antitrust enforcement efforts by the DOJ, to find out whether the president or his administration is improperly interfering with the independence of the DOJ out of favoritism for a political ally." Donald Trump congratulated Murdoch for the Disney-Fox deal while attacking AT&T's acquisition of Time Warner, particularly over the ownership of CNN, which he frequently criticized due to alleged bias.[25]
Love FOX, but the app is awful. In between each video clip there is a 30 second commercial, The same commercial over and over and over and over again - in between each segment. The app cuts the end of each video segment off, sometimes before they're done talking. As I type this, I'm listening to the same commercial AGAIN. It's enough to drive me batty. Especially because I can't stand the commercial. In addition, the app buffers and locks up a lot. Especially if I try to scroll through and skip segments it locks up. I actually haven't been able to accomplish scrolling through and choosing another segment. Once I restarted the app and was left with no other option but to watch all the video clips from the beginning. I didn't want to do that, so I never got to see the video clips at the end. Oh, I get to listen to the same commercial again.

I have had the Fox News skill enabled for Alexa for about 8 months now and listen to it several times a day. Now, today (3/14/18) it has played ads everyone I accessed it--one before and one after it finished. I thought this was Amazon's fault, but I discovered the exact same thing today when I accessed Google's version of the skill through my android phone: ads. I just can't do that. I use the Fox News skill to get info on the go when I can't articles through the app. But if I have to listen to ads blare over my speaker now just for a quick update? No thanks. If it doesn't stop soon I will be disabling the skill. I understand that this is how Fox makes revenue, but I don't care. If they need the nickle they make off me so badly to pay the bills then I'd gladly pay for an ad-free version. I won't pay, however, by listening to ads. Not worth it.

On July 16, 2018, CNBC reported that Comcast was unlikely to continue its bidding war with Disney to acquire Fox. Instead, Comcast is likely to continue pursuing 61% stake of Sky.[47] On July 19, 2018, Comcast officially announced that it was dropping its bid on the Fox assets in order to focus on its bid for Sky. The CEO of Comcast, Brian L. Roberts, said "I'd like to congratulate Bob Iger and the team at Disney and commend the Murdoch family and Fox for creating such a desirable and respected company."[48]
American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka lambasted the deal and called on federal regulators to "fully investigate" the merger. He was concerned about his smaller cable constituents having to negotiate multichannel deals with a behemoth that combines Fox's regional sports networks with ESPN and its cadre of collegiate-conference-focused RSNs, as well as the majority stake in Hulu:[74][75]
