Using the ‘‘Everywhere’ search (see above,) try looking at the cheapest destinations to book as a one-way flight from your origin city. Then search from those destinations to your desired destination a few days later to see if the two flights might be cheaper than one. (Even if it’s close to the same price, you’ll at least get more bang for your buck with two vacations in one!).
While we're talking offers, there's a good chance that the REAL cheapest day to buy flights is actually a famous "special offers" days. The rest of the world is slowly waking up to the potentional of such massive discount events like America's Black Friday extravaganza.
